Anonymity you can check, not just trust

Most platforms ask you to believe a promise in a privacy policy. Sidedoor removes the information that could identify you before it can ever be stored. Five properties, each true in the code:

Your email is hashed, then discarded

When you verify, your address is put through a one-way SHA-256 hash and thrown away. The raw email is only ever used to send your link — it never reaches the database.

Your IP is never logged

Not in a request log, not in a database column, not anywhere. There is no network trail that could tie a post back to a person or a machine.

Your handle isn't you

Usernames — for your account and for each post — are randomly generated and fully decoupled from your email or identity. There is nothing in a handle to reverse into who you are.

Coworkers before a feed unlocks

Not an arbitrary quota — a privacy floor. It guarantees a crowd large enough to disappear into before anyone can read a single post.

Edits leave nothing behind

When you edit a post, the new version overwrites the old one. Sidedoor keeps no edit history, so nothing lingers after you change your mind.

Nobody will ever know who shared with whom

There's no table, no token, no row anywhere that connects your name to the share. Bring in whoever you want — a friend, a rival, your manager. There is no record for anyone to find, so there's nothing to get caught for.

Why I Built Sidedoor

  • There was no safe place to talk about what was really happening with the people you work with.

  • I’ve watched coworkers get laid off, teams reshaped overnight, and the shock of major changes ripple through a room.

  • You shouldn’t have to carry that alone.

How it works

  1. Verify your work email

Sidedoor sends a one-time link to your company address. It's hashed and discarded the moment it arrives — see above.

  2. Get a random identity

You're assigned a randomly generated username. It isn't derived from your email or anything else about you.

  3. Speak freely

Your company's feed is visible only to verified coworkers. Post, reply, and vote — all anonymously.

Why a feed unlocks at 25 coworkers

Your company’s feed stays locked until 25 coworkers have verified. That isn’t an arbitrary quota — it’s a privacy floor.

With only a handful of people in a group, a post can be narrowed down to one person by process of elimination — anonymity stops meaning much. The threshold guarantees a crowd large enough to actually disappear into before anyone can read a single post.

The feed is only as good — and as safe — as the people in it

Bringing your coworkers in isn’t a favor. It’s the whole point, and it’s directly in your interest:

  • A feed worth reading needs your actual coworkers in it — and you’re the one who knows who they are.

  • The more coworkers who join, the bigger the crowd you’re anonymous in. Sharing Sidedoor with more people protects everyone.

  • Sharing gives nothing away. Sidedoor never records who shared with whom — your coworkers just receive a neutral message, with no sender attached.

Sidedoor is brand new. Be among the first companies to make it part of your workplace culture.
